Setting out to see America...

Today starts a new adventure, seeing the US of A for approximately the next 18 months, visiting lots of National Parks, stopping to see friends and family, while experiencing the RV lifestyle full time (think Chevy Chase - Vacation). It's something we've talked about and thought about for several years, and now we're doin' it.

Our "Cottage on Wheels" is a 2008 Winnebago Sightseer 29R Class A motorhome, with two slideouts (for extra roominess in the living room and bedroom), all the conveniences of home and perhaps even a few more than our island cottage! We've named her Mia, the acronym for our travel adventure "Missing In America".

We're departing Maine today, our wedding anniversary, Sunday, September 20th (a date when we set out on another big adventure, 22 years ago...) and plan to head west along the northern tier, trying to see NH, VT, upstate NY, OH, MI and WI before the cold overtakes us and drives us south. Once the cold comes, it's all up for grabs. Either we head to the southwest or the southeast, depending on what plan seems to make the most sense at the time.

We intend to return to our Islesboro Maine cottage next summer for a month and then resume travels where we left off, ending our travels back in Islesboro in June of 2011. We'll see what adventures unfold in the coming months...
